It'll all be easy now, right?

How could I have forgotten? Since my birthday gift from Mike this year seemed pertinent to this blog - I'd been intending on sharing it with you all! But since Mike surprised me early this year ("in case you need it for anything before your birthday") I totally forgot to tell you all about it! I was really impressed that he showed up with the exact gift I was wishing for. He must pay attention more than I think he does (because I'm quite sure he steers pretty clear of this blog and therefore this entry!) As a Mother's Day promo they were offering a free ($80 value) ice cream maker attachment with purchase of this mixer so I'm looking forward to that arriving as well. (Though I'm a little worried about my rebate getting to them since I only used a 41 cent stamp - wouldn't I have gotten it back after a couple weeks?)

I still can't believe I've been cooking and baking without a stand mixer over the last 12 years but my trusty hand mixer has really done everything I needed it to do. But you know what this new mixer means? BREAD! I'm more excited about bread than I am about candy (the other thing rather difficult to make with a hand mixer since you need 3 hands: 1 to hold the mixer and 2 to hold/pour/scrape hot sugar syrup into whatever's in the mixer). I've already started my yeast research. Results will be coming shortly if you stay tuned!
